Understanding the Availability of Online Adjunct Faculty Jobs for College Teachers

It is very often the case that traditional college teachers working at physical colleges, community colleges and universities are puzzled by the large amount of talk about the availability of online adjunct faculty jobs with accredited online college degree programs. This mystification is not hard to understand since the graduate schools that award the earned graduate degree required to teach at the post-secondary academic level do not teach the graduate students how to earn a living in the event there is a drastic change in the academic labor model employed by traditional post-secondary educational institutions. So here is a way for befuddled college instructors to understand how they can save themselves from penury by teaching online for online bachelor degree programs and online master’s degree programs.

New and returning college students, many of whom are non-traditional college students, are perfectly poised to appreciate the benefits of enrolling in an online degree program in order to earn an online masters degree in school counseling, a mechanical engineering degree online or a communications degree online from their personal computers at home or at work. The reason that online college courses are so attractive to them is that they are not required to drive a personal vehicle to a distant location, a physical college campus, at times or the day or night that are much more convenient for the college or university than for the students who already have massive pressure on their personal and professional schedules due to employment woes, which is why most college students are in school today, and family responsibilities which simply cannot be taken with them, in the case of a sick child or children, to the physical college or university classroom. In the last analysis, online degree programs are a much better deal for the college students, and in that way they are a much better deal of college instructors who want to teach online and earn multiple income streams.

In the past, a college instructor teaching on a adjunct basis for a traditional college or university had to spend what little income they earned on physical transportation just to reach the college campuses they could teach for during the year. Today, the primary vehicle employed by online adjunct instructors to reach their online college courses every day is an inexpensive personal computer accessing the Internet. Additionally, in the past an adjunct college instructor was geographically limited by the literal physical distance between schools, and even if the college instructor could afford a personal vehicle and it attendant expenses they could only teach college students at the schools the vehicle could each day.

With the maturation of distance education technology, practically free access to the internet by way of wireless connection available at public places such as public libraries and very affordable electronic devices such as personal computers it is possible for an online adjunct instructor to have eight to ten online adjunct jobs with three or four online college degree programs from practically anywhere in the world. These are issues that college teachers need to understand the availability of online adjunct faculty jobs.
